PTI Nebraska recently had a Teacher Appreciation Contest where parents and students were able to nominate a teacher who they think deserves to be recognized for all the great things they do for their students. The winning teacher gets a $500 gift card for their classroom.
Mrs. Leah Kasuske, 5th grade Teacher, was nominated by a past student, Corrin Rodriguez and was the winner of the contest. Here are the wonderful comments from Corrin:
Mrs. Kasuske has established a rigorous learning environment within her classroom to enable student centered learning. Her disposition toward students is welcoming. She helps each student to believe that, no matter how bad their home lives may be, they can be successful in life. She helps students find reasons not to believe the stereotypes about the town they live in or the economic situations they come from. She helps them to see something more that many would never realize otherwise. Mrs. Kasuske helps students see that they can make good lives for themselves. She thoroughly explains everything and encourages each student to share their view and perspective while making sure to validate everyone's point of view.
