Lincoln Montessori Music News Letter
Kindergarten: Students in Kindergarten have been working on learning how to keep the beat, clapping rhythms and knowing which voice we should use in what area. Kindergartners have also been learning presto and legato (Fast and Slow using shakers and rhythm sticks) The students will be doing music from the Lion King and Down By the Bay for their concert.
1st/2nd Grade: This year our students have been using boomwhackers to compose a 4/4 rhythm. They have been reviewing the (Quarter note, Half note, Whole note, Quarter rest, and Eighth Notes.) the students then were introduced to solfege learning hand signals, intervals, and pitches while using boomwhackers as tools to help understanding pitches up and down. This year the students will be doing music from Frozen, Mary Poppins, Spongebob, and Jungle Book.
3rd/4th Grade: 3rd and 4th Grade students have been working on the Recorder, learning about responsibility such bringing their instruments to class. Learning to read treble clef music remembering our EGBDF and FACE. We have been working on learning how to read and write rhythms. Learning our fingerings for GAB and starting our Recorder Karate Program. We performed BAG of Zombies on October 30th, and for our concert will be doing songs from Hamilton, Annie, and more.
