Art with Ms. Bennett

Greetings! As always, the students at Lincoln have been busy in art class! In Kindergarten, students create artworks inspired by master artists. Inspired by the works of Paul Klee, the students designed doodle art. These turned out to be quite creative! Currently the students are practicing drawing and coloring skills as we create our Autumn pumpkin patches to be displayed on the wall soon.
1st and 2nd grade combo classes are currently working on an oil pastel still life of flowers. Vincent Van Gogh is the inspiration for this project. They are doing a super job! Those will be going up on the walls soon for everyone to enjoy. The 1st graders were introduced to oil pastels for this project and the 2nd graders are more than willing to give them a hand when needed. Drawing and color blending skills are being utilized to create these awesome pictures. Be sure to visit the halls on the second floor to see them when they are finished!
3rd graders just finished their Op art designs that were inspired by legendary artist M.C. Escher. Composition and craftsmanship were two major components of this project. Even though these were a bit complicated, the students seemed to enjoy creating them. Autumn Tree in Perspective will be the next lesson for these young artists.
4th graders are experimenting with color blending and using the medium of chalk pastels. Though we have used the pastels in previous grades, they haven't really had to get their hands "dirty". The students are quickly finding out that the process is just as important as the final art piece. Learning to use the chalk appropriately is key to success when creating their Fall Leaf collages. They are doing a great job!
The beginning of the year is a busy time in art class. Creative art expression takes awhile to get going but the final product is so worth the wait. We have very creative students here at Lincoln school and I am proud and honored to have the opportunity to help them grow as artists!
