Physical Education

Parents it is important for kids to be physically active.  Creating time for your child to be active can be hard at times, especially this time of year. Be creative when finding activities during the cold months  The American Heart Association recommends at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day. Physical activity helps with good health, preventative measures against disease, promotes academic learning, builds self esteem, and develops cooperation, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Exercise has a direct impact on behavior, as well as development of the brain.  It impacts the cognitive skills of students, and their attitude and behavior.  The more active kids are, the better their concentration and overall behavior.

Being a healthy role model for your child helps shows the importance of being physically active.  Be physically active in your daily life, and plan family things to do together to be active.  Limit time for TV, and electronics.  These activities are done sitting down, and don't get your child up and moving.  Remember your child is also watching you and your screen time.  So put down the electronics and go do something fun as a family!
