Mrs. Johnson’s Counseling Corner
I know I have not had the pleasure of meeting all the MO families yet, so I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself! My name is Josi Johnson and this is my 18th year with Norfolk Public School and my second year as being a School Counselor. I am at Jefferson Elementary four days a week and MO for one day a week, on Tuesdays. I am enjoying getting to know all of the MO students, but with Jefferson Elementary having approximately 250 students and MO about 125 student, learning everyone’s name has been my biggest challenge so far!
MO overall building goal is teaching the students about manners and how they are needed to create a peaceful school environment. We are teaching students the importance of treating each other with respect by using kind words and actions. The “Our Manners” Bulletin Board has been reviewed with all classes as part of this process.
At MO, we start each day by reciting the following pledge and it is our hope that when the students say these words, that they will think about how they can help be a peaceful member of the MO family. We hope that this reminds students that our focus at MO is based on respect, kindness and peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
Pledge:
“I am respectful!”
“I am responsible!”
“I am safe!”
“I will cooperate with all school people!”
“I will have a GREAT day!”
If you ever have any question or concerns, please feel free to contact me! I am so glad that I am part of the MO family and I have felt very welcomed by both students and staff.
