Mrs. Mitchell's Classroom News

October finds Mrs. Mitchell’s classroom bustling with wonderful fall activities and learning. We have been working on multiplication with the Montessori checkerboard, and finding out what a variable is and what it stands for. Math in the Montessori classroom is the most amazing hands-on experience! Geometry work has consisted of various quadrilaterals in third grade, and learning how to read a protractor to find angle measurements in fourth grade.

In reading and language arts we have been soaking up the verb experience and making our writing exciting with lots of silly and scary similes. Students recently started working on idioms the day it rained cats and dogs!
We love showing our learning in new and unique ways every day we get to be together.

Mrs. Mitchell asked her students what they liked to do in the fall when it’s too cold or rainy to go outside. Many students said how much they like to read their favorite book, or have someone they love read to them. We would love to share our favorite books with you now!
