The 4th grade is participating in the Great Mail Race this school year. Students wrote letters to a 4th grade class in each of the fifty states. Students completed a questionnaire to go with the letter. They shared about their interests, Grant school, Norfolk and facts about Nebraska. One unique fact is that Nebraska is the only state with a unicameral.
Students also had the opportunity to practice penmanship and letter writing basics. Students did a fantastic job addressing the envelopes, a task that was new to many of them. Students were thrilled to receive several reply letters and eagerly used Google Earth to explore the schools and states where the letters came from.
This engaging project sparked curiosity, connection, and a sense of adventure among our students. It was a meaningful way to combine learning with real-world exploration—and the excitement isn't over yet!
