First Grade Field Trip To the Norfolk Public Library

Mrs. Dahlkoetter’s and Miss Howard’s first graders at Grant Elementary took a spring field trip to the Norfolk Public Library.  Students had a tour of the amazing things that are available at the library beyond just checking out books.  In the tour, students learned about the 3D printer, the take home kits and games available, how library books are given “armor” to help them last and how the drive thru window works.

Students divided up into groups and got to explore lego time and all their creations are now on display in the Children’s Area at the library. The youth director, Whitney Porn, read a story about the Earth.  Every student went home with a seed starter kit donated by “Keep Nebraska Beautiful”.

We finished out the field trip with a storywalk called “waiting for the Biblioburro” and everyone got to enjoy the amazing outdoor playground! The Public Library is really an AMAZING place to visit.
