Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Grant Elementary! I am excited to see all of our returning students, and I look forward to continuing to serve you and your children. For families new to Grant, I am excited to meet you and your child. Please know that we are here to support your child in transitioning to our amazing school. Our staff and school community are committed to providing the best educational experience possible for your child at Grant Elementary.
Parent involvement is essential for the success of our students. We encourage parents to visit our school, communicate with teachers, and participate in all of the fun activities that we have planned for this year. This year, Grant students will be coming home with a book to read every day. We ask that parents read with their child every night. Reading just a few minutes each day will have a huge impact on your child’s educational success. We also invite all parents to be a part of our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). You will be able to find out more information about ways to get involved at our Grant Elementary Open House on Thursday, August 10 at 5:30.
Monday, August 14 will be the first day of school for the students in Group A, The first day of school for the students in Group B will be Tuesday, August 15. All students attend school on Wednesday, August 16. This day will follow the Wednesday 2:00 dismissal schedule. Please make sure to attend school on the day that you are assigned.
All students will enter school through the gym doors, just off the playground on the east side of the building. The doors will open at 7:50 am. If your child arrives after 8:05am, they will need to enter through the front door of the building.
School will dismiss at 3:15 pm on all school days except for Wednesdays. On Wednesdays, students are dismissed at 2:00. Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will be picked up in front of the school along Phillip Avenue. Fourth graders will be picked up west of the school along 12th Street. For safety reasons, we ask that you do not double park on either of these streets or allow your child to walk between cars to get to your vehicle. Be sure to let your student know if they are to walk home or wait for a ride after school. It is important for students and teachers to know the after school plan for your child.
Attendance is essential for the success of your child here at school! If your child is going to be absent or tardy, please call the school at 402-644-2544 before 8:30am. If you are calling earlier than 7:30, please leave a message. Your child will be considered tardy if he or she is not at school by 8:05am. We appreciate your commitment to regular attendance and punctuality with drop off and pick up times.
Breakfast and lunch are served daily at Grant Elementary. Breakfast begins at 7:50 for students who choose to eat. Students will be charged $1.60 for breakfast and $3.10 for lunch. Reduced price breakfast is $0.30 and reduced price lunch is $0.40. Families of students who may be eligible for free or reduced price meal benefits must submit a new application to determine eligibility. School meal applications can be found on the NPS website.

All Grant families are invited to our “Back to School Pool Party” on Monday, July 31 from 5:30-7:30 at Aquaventure Waterpark. Admission is $5 per family. This will be a great time to see some of your teachers, have some fun, and enjoy a frozen treat from your principal. I look forward to seeing you there!
