The Norfolk Public Schools Hall of Fame honors former students and those who have positively impacted Norfolk Public Schools. The goals of the Norfolk Public Schools Hall of Fame are:
- To provide positive role models for the students of Norfolk Public Schools.
- To recognize achievements of Norfolk Public Schools alumni.
- To recognize those who have positively impacted Norfolk Public Schools.
For Consideration to be Inducted into the NPS Hall of Fame Class of 2026, Please Nominate by Midnight on Wednesday, October 14th, 2026.
Nomination Categories:
Legacy Nomination Criteria:
- Must be a graduate of Norfolk Public Schools.
- Graduated at least 10 years ago.
- Demonstrate significant contributions or accomplishments in their profession or field.; or made exceptional contributions to mankind.
- Be distinguished at the state, national, or international level in contributing to their field of work or study or must have supported the academic mission of Norfolk Public Schools and has made positive contributions to the education of our students.
- Demonstrate personal excellence.
- Possess high character.
- Individuals are intended to be honored for their contributions outside of their time as a student at Norfolk Public Schools.
Honorary Nomination Criteria:
- Individual does not need to be a graduate of Norfolk Public Schools.
- Must have supported the academic mission of Norfolk Public Schools and has made positive contributions to the education of our students.
- Individual may not be currently employed at Norfolk Public Schools.
Nomination Guidelines:
1. If a nominee is not inducted in a particular year, the nomination application will be kept on file for consideration for five years from the original year of nomination.
- Updates are allowed within this period, and additional nominations will be added to the file within the five years it is eligible.
- Revised nominations for an individual taking place after the five year consideration period will begin the process again, noting only that nominee’s previous nominations, not the associated details.
2. The Norfolk Public Schools Hall of Fame shall honor up to 6 inductees annually.
3. If an inductee’s actions, past or future, should be determined to reflect poorly upon the school’s mission or values (ie. felony conviction), then the Selection Committee will have the authority to remove the inductee at any time with a majority vote.
4. Groups, families, or couples may be inducted together, should there be reasonable purpose behind the action (ie. a project done together may validate a group induction).
- The nomination itself will need to outline who specifically is within the group to be considered.
- Individuals may still be inducted independently, should there be different qualifying reasons for nomination.
5. Selections will be made by the Norfolk Public Schools Hall of Fame Selection Committee, established by the Norfolk Public Schools Foundation. The Norfolk Public Schools Foundation Board of Directors will provide final formal approval and induction for accepted nominees.
6. Inductees will have photo plaques with biographical information displayed in the NPS Hall of Fame for one year, before being transitioned into the digital archive and running list of inductees organized by year of induction. Inductees will receive a commemorative gift at time of induction and their plaque will be made available to them at the conclusion of their year on the wall.
7. Nomination for posthumous awards will be accepted.
8. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
