NPS Announces Promotion of School Principals to District Administrative Positions

Dr. Jami Jo Thompson announced to school district staff on Thursday (2/6/2020) that two highly qualified internal candidates are being promoted to District Administration positions for the 2020-2021 school year.

Mr. Erik Wilson, current Assistant Principal at Norfolk High School, will be the new Director of Student Services and Safety for the 2020-2021 school year.  This administrative position is a new position approved by the Norfolk Board of Education at the November 11, 2019 board meeting. This new position is being added to the administrative team as an identified need in the Strategic Growth Plan that school district leadership has been researching and developing in response to steady increased student enrollment.

Mrs. Angie Baumann, current Principal at Westside Elementary School, will be the new Director of Human Resources and Accreditation.  She will replace Mr. Mike Hart, who will be relocating for a promotion to Superintendent at another school district, for the 2020-2021 school year.

Superintendent Dr. Jami Jo Thompson told us, “I am delighted that these two individuals are joining the District Administration Team.  Their proven leadership and longtime passion for the success of the students of our school district will be great assets for both Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Baumann in their new positions!”

Pending Board of Education approval at the 2/10/2020 school board meeting, Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Baumann will both assume their new responsibilities on July 1, 2020.  The search for qualified candidates to fill the Principal positions that they are vacating will begin immediately following the school board meeting approval.
