Norfolk Public Schools is pleased to announce that Stephanie Anderson, Special Education Teacher, Woodland Park Elementary School, is the winner of the NPS Award for Excellence for March 2023.

Listed below are excerpts from some of the submitted narratives of Mrs. Anderson's nomination:
- She has always been there for my kids and all kids that come through her room. Even when my kid is on worst behavior she does everything she can to help and stand up for him.
- Mrs. Anderson goes above and beyond to help with one student in my room. She will check in multiple times throughout the day. Mrs. Anderson has a great way of speaking to students who may need extra love and attention. She deserves to be nominated for all the extra time she puts into her day, her school, and her classroom.
- I currently have four Special Education students in my classroom with diverse needs, but the advice and mentoring I have received from Steph helped me start the school year with lots of tools to meet my student's unique needs. Her calm and winsome manner keep both teachers and students at ease during difficult days and her patience and no-nonsense attitude helps students to trust her quickly. Norfolk Public Schools is truly blessed to have Steph Anderson as part of their team, and I am incredibly lucky to work at Woodland Park with her.
- Stephanie Anderson is essential in making our school run smoothly. Her room is always a happening place with multiple grades, rotations, needs, and let’s not forget about testing. She makes it look effortless and always treats students with the respect and dignity they need regardless of their actions. She is a valued team member who helps problem solve and offers many tools to help the student achieve their goals in and out of the classroom. It is amazing to watch the growth students make academically and socially with Stephanie. She makes the best out of challenging situations and can always find a positive. She is well deserving of this award and staff in her position rarely get the credit they deserve for being in the deep deep trenches and it would be an honor to have her recognized for all her years and dedication to those who need the most!
- Not only is Steph an amazing person, but she is an amazing teacher as well. The love she has for her students goes unmatched. She fights for their success and won’t stop until they have achieved it. I see her day in and day out meeting each student at their level and bringing out the very best in them. She can take on a difficult task with a smile and she will make sure it gets done for the best outcome for her student. She is a wonderful coworker and friend as well. She can always keep us laughing even when we are struggling from a difficult day.
