Norfolk Public Schools is pleased to announce that Neta Lowe, Science Teacher, Norfolk Senior High, was the recipient of the NPS Award for Excellence for September 2024.

Thank you, Neta Lowe, for your dedication, hard work, and service to our students, staff, and the NPS community!

Listed below are excerpts from some of the submitted narratives of Mrs. Lowe's nomination:

  • Mrs. Lowe has taken on a wide range of challenges including helping prep a fill-in teacher for our environmental classes, re-organizing and developing the curriculum for environmental, planning and developing curriculum for our physics course, as well as working with a team to develop the physical science classes. Mrs. Lowe takes pride in being involved in many committees throughout the school, takes the time to check-in with students and holds students accountable for their work and efforts at Norfolk Senior High.
  • Neta is such an amazing person inside and out. She goes above and beyond for her students and her department daily. She will work the longer hours and attend all the meetings just to make sure that she knows what her students need to be successful and to help make the school a better place for all students and teachers.  She is really one of the best people that I have the pleasure to know and to work with.
  • Neta is an incredible member of our science department and the senior high team as a whole.  She is always willing to help and puts in hours way beyond the school day. Her creative lesson plans and activities help push students to meet their full potential while enjoying learning. She is a dear friend to her colleagues and an advocate for some of the toughest students. It is a pleasure to work with Neta!

  • Neta Lowe is extremely deserving of being recognized with the Award for Excellence. She is an accomplished classroom teacher as well as a building leader. She is a member of our building leadership team, MTSS team, and the Science department head. All of this speaks to her willingness to help others, her work ethic, and her desire to see ALL students grow and improve.

Neta received her award at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, September 9, 2024. Please congratulate Neta on this well-deserved award!
