Trisha Heying, Bel-Air Elementary School Principal in Norfolk, Nebraska, has earned the Distinguished Elementary Principal Award through Region III of NAESP (Nebraska Association of Elementary School Principals).
Bill McCallister, Superintendent of Norfolk Public Schools, says of Heying, “As the largest elementary school in Norfolk and the proud home of our district's Life Skills program, Bel Air requires a leader who is both strategically capable and deeply empathetic. Trisha embodies these qualities perfectly. What truly sets Trisha apart is her fierce advocacy, love, and compassion for her students. This was recently put on full display when our Life Skills program faced a critical space crisis due to a sudden increase in enrollment. Where others might have seen an insurmountable logistical hurdle and chosen to relocate some of our most vulnerable students, Trisha refused to compromise. Driven by her desire to keep our school community whole, she championed a creative renovation solution instead. Because of her determination, Bel Air can continue to house and support all of our Life Skills students under one roof. Trisha does not just manage a building; she protects and nurtures a community. I wholeheartedly support her and am incredibly grateful for her visionary leadership.”
Trisha Heying has been the Principal at Bel Air Elementary for 12 years. Bel Air Elementary serves approximately 330 students in grades K-4 and is supported by a dedicated staff who are committed to student success each day. Outside of working with the wonderful staff and students at Bel Air, Trisha is a proud mom of 3 busy children.
Congratulations, Trisha! Thanks for all you do for NPS!
